While thioctic acid, more commonly known as Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA), has been shown to have exfoliating properties to improve skin texture, it is not officially classified as an Alpha Hydroxy Acid. It more renown as a potent antioxidant with the ability to penetrate both the inner and outer layer of the skin. This allows ALA to reduce inflammation, fight free radicals and to improve the overall health and appearance of the skin.
