Webinar by Reviva Labs recorded July 27, 2023 - Compare and contrast how formulas that contain three, four, five, or six actives or more offer a broader approach to treatment rather than slathering on single or dual active products. Layer two or three multifunction products and you’re done with far less risk of high percentage skin ingredient products harming your skin. In this session Talking Skincare we’ll help you strive to embrace life regardless of where you are along the journey.
Hi, I’m Bill, today’s Talking Skincare host for Multifunction formulas vs Multi Product Regimens.
Not too long-ago skincare was flooded with K-Beauty inspired routines that utilized 8-10-12 or more products. And these products could vary morning and night – so in actuality you could be using 20 or 40 products each day. Wipes, double cleansing, toners, multiple serums, creams, facial tools, and more.
Don’t get me wrong, multi-step skincare routines are great. If you can dedicate the time morning and night and can stick with it… then you’ll probably see good results. But in today’s busy world, maintaining a 12-product regimen can be challenging.
Perhaps this is why trends are shifting as skincare enthusiasts want to simplify and streamline.
Enter multifunction or multi-purpose skincare products. Each of these products offer multiple “treatments” in a single formula. So, instead of using two or three products to achieve results you use only one. In the end, you can compress a 12-step routine into perhaps 3 or 4 items.
This of course saves time and money. And it’s more likely you’ll be consistent.
What is a multifunctional product? A multifunctional product usually contains two to three or more key ingredients that address various skin concerns. It might contain several antioxidants and peptides and moisturizers in a single product.
There is a tradeoff. Multifunctional products need to be well formulated to balance each of its multiple key ingredients optimally. This can be tricky. Plus, consumers need to be savvy enough to avoid any ingredients they might be sensitive to.
By using multifunctional products you’re condensing a multi-product routine into few multi-purpose products – but you’re still layering on most of the same key ingredients. Just in fewer steps.
For example, you could use Reviva’s Glycolic Cleanser + Facial Skin Prep Serum + Alpha Lipoic Acid, Vitamin C Ester, DMAE Crème + our Firming Eye Serum to infuse your skin with multiple emollients, antioxidants, and peptides. Top it off with a sunscreen and you’re done. You could even skip the serums in a pinch.
Three to four products and a sunscreen do it all. Then at night you can change out the serum or the moisturizer, and skip the sunscreen. Both your AM and PM product mix can be easily tailored to suit your needs.
And when the next trendy product drops – you can add it quickly and know if it’s good for you or not. With a 12-step skincare routine that’s definitely more difficult to accomplish.
So, if you have the time, money, and fortitude to handle a 12 step multi-product regimen each day – have at it. But if you’re like most, a 3-4 step multifunctional regimen might work better.
Be sure to check out Reviva’s dozen or so multifunctional products to learn how they could help streamline your skincare regimen.
