This essential oil is produced by steaming the leaves of the eucalyptus tree and is a colorless, pale yellow oil with a camphoraceous aroma which is usually used in vapor rubs to treat coughs. Its primary element, eucalyptol (also known as 1,8-cineole, 80-91%) has strong antibacterial and expectorant properties. Among essential oils, Eucalyptus Globulus is considered to be quite non-sensitising.
