Transitioning from the lazy days of summer to a busy schedule of classes can be stressful.  Going back to school means waking up early and going to bed late, and grabbing quick meals on the go. The stress and anxiety caused by this overnight disruption to our daily routines can take a toll on our skin and even trigger a case of full-blown acne

To prepare your skin for school here are a few easy lessons you can follow – we promise they’ll send you straight to the head of the class!

Lesson #1:

Cleansing

Whether you’re the type of student who falls asleep with a book in your hands or someone who needs to hit the snooze button 3 times before getting out of bed – you really need to make time for cleansing your skin – day and night.  It is the most important step in your skincare routine if you want to clear, glowing skin.

For Normal to Oilier skins, try Reviva Labs Sea Salt Cleansing Gel.  It keeps skin refreshed and acne-free with mineral rich sea salt while the Green Tea and Cucumber extract calm and soothe the skin.

For sun-damaged, or blemished skin try Glycolic Acid Facial Cleanser and Glycolic Acid Toner.  These products deep cleanse the skin with glycolic acid to promote skin renewal and cell turnover.

For drier skin folks, we recommend our Cleansing Milk. This lightweight soothing lotion dissolves dirt and makeup as it gently cleanses the skin.

Lesson #2:

After cleansing, you’ll need to make sure your skin stays properly hydrated.  Depending on where you live, being in class all day may mean air-conditioned rooms or dehydrated forced heat.  Either of these artificial environments can rob your skin of moisture.

For daytime, we recommend 2-3 drops of our High Potency Vitamin C Serum followed by Skin Smoothing Antioxidant Day Creme.  This dynamic duo is packed with ingredients that defend against environmental damage, brighten uneven skin tone and nourish the skin with natural oils and emollients.

For nighttime, support your skin with Hyaluronic Acid Serum and Calming Rejuvenation Creme.  These product partners help the skin retain and rebuild moisture levels while drenching the skin with nourishing essential fatty acids.  Plus, Calming Rejuvenation Creme is formulated with Manuka Honey and Carrot Seed Oil to help balance moisture and calm the skin.

Lesson #3:

Take some time for self-care by using a facial mask once a week.

If you tend to be on the oily side, the stress of returning to school can cause your skin to produce even more oil and become blemished.  If this describes your skin, try Reviva Labs Problem Skin Mask.  This clay-based mask helps remove impurities that cause blemishes while leaving skin feeling soothed, cool and clean.

For gentle exfoliation try either Fruit Enzyme Mask or Bamboo Charcoal Pore Minimizing Mask.  Fruit Enzyme Mask uses multiple fruit enzymes to slough away dull skin and restore your glow.  Bamboo Charcoal Pore Minimizing Mask helps to deep cleanse, and brighten hyperpigmentation.  Plus it’s so gentle, you can use it more than once a week.

Lesson #4:

Maintain a healthy diet and a regular sleep cycle.  Make sure to eat plenty of dark, leafy greens like spinach, kale and chard since they are all rich in vitamins.  Pack a lunch with tuna or salmon.  Both are rich in fatty acids, which are believed to provide anti-aging benefits and help lock in moisture.

And, they don’t call it Beauty Sleep for nothing!  While we are sleeping, the skin is taking the time to repair itself.  Our body makes new collagen when you sleep which goes a long way to helping our skin stay firm and prevents fine lines.  Our body also boosts blood flow to the skin while we snooze, which keeps your complexion glowing.  So while it may be hard, it is super important for your skin and brain to get as much sleep as possible.

So if you’ve gotten a bit lax about your skincare routine over the summer, now’s the time to get serious again.  A consistent skincare regimen is essential for keeping your skin looking its best.
